Feast of St. Peter Claver

St. Peter Claver Church will be celebrating their Feast Day and Homecoming on Sunday, September 8th with a mass at 11am followed by an outdoor luncheon. The mass will be celebrated by our new administrator, Reverand Zephyrin K. Katompa, in the multiple languages of St. Peter Claver's  parishioners; Creole French, English and Spanish. All are welcomed.

The celebration is in remembrance of St. Peter Claver who was born to a wealthy Spanish family in 1581 and at an early age became aware of the desperate plight of those African slaves who survived the perilous journey across the Atlantic to Cartagena, Columbia, a slave-trading hub. For 30 years he ministered to slaves in the filthy, diseased, overcrowded holds of the slave ships  - delivering food, medicine and the assurance of their human dignity and of God's love.
