Hairspray at Pax Amicus Castle Theatre

Pax Amicus Castle Theatre in Budd Lake will present Hairspray, the Tony Award Winning Best Musical about a plus-sized, big haired, big hearted teen who launches a campaign to integrate a local TV dance program.

The joyous musical of Tracey Turnblad (Melissa VanEck of Denville), her over-protective mother, Edna, (Paul Rivellese of Chester), a Dick Clark-type disc jockey of the ‘60s, Corny Collins (Will Sandoval of Budd Lake), and the local resistance to racial integration, features a cast of 25 New Jersey teens and adults.

Taking place in 1962 Baltimore, the songs include 1960s-style dance music and downtown rhythm and blues, and features such songs as “Good Morning, Baltimore,”, “Mama, I’m a Big Girl Now”, “Big, Blond and Beautiful” and “You Can’t Stop the Beat.”
