John Ehlis Quartet featuring vocalist Olivia Foschi

Combining jazz sensibilities with several World Music traditions, Montclair musician and composer John Ehlis brings together a group of talented and diverse artists who bring a spirit of adventure to his unique music.

Special guest vocalist Olivia Foschi was born in San Francisco
and grew up dividing her time between Italy and the West
Coast.  She recorded her first songs while in college with an
ethno-folk music project with flutist/percussionist Victor
Etienne and guitarist Sam Nicolier.

Her project "Liv'n' Symposium", was the competition winner
at the 2009 "Jazz Women in Blues Festival", which is promoted
by Naima Club of Forli, Italy, and subsequently she became the
opening act for E.C. Scott.

Currently a resident of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, she released
a new album in March 2013, produced by Ulysses Owens Jr.

"Foschi is today's vocalist, blazing the trail for a new style of
jazz vocals, not adhering to traditional sounds or rhythms,
but appealing to a new generation of listeners, while still
honoring jazz as a tradition.  She is truly original and far
from the norm as a composer and as a vocalist."
