Musical Journey: Struggles for Cultural Identity

Presenting music
epitomizing key events in the Filipinos’ struggle to define their identity in
their own terms.  The hour-long
lecture-concert supports the “Triumph of Philippine Art”, a three-month long
groundbreaking exhibition of contemporary Filipino and Filipino-American art that
were inspired by the country’s socio-economic and political struggles during
the Martial Law period leading up to the historic People Power of 1986 and,
thereafter.

Featured performers: Philippine Chamber Rondalla of NJ, guitarist/composer/conductor Michael Dadap, bandurrist Leonor Llorin Paliguin, mezzo-soprano Aida Gamboa.
