- Bloomfield, NJ, May 31, 2013

There is no lull in the action
at Nye and Company. With the calendar winding down, they are putting together an
auction rivaling anything offered to date. The sale gets posted to www.igavelauctions.com, Wednesday, October
23rd  and will remain open for
bidding until November 6th. Almost 900 lots come from all over the
tri-state area, but the most interesting collection was housed in the Easton,
Pennsylvania area until coming to New Jersey for sale.

With the death of a seasoned
collector, the family sold his house in order to disburse the contents. Of
interest are a variety of collections. For example, there are several carved
plaques depicting whales of various species. Other plaques are decorated with
half hull models of power- and sailboats. There are several paintings, Oriental
rugs, numerous bronze figures of raptors and furniture. Of particular interest
are the Chinese erotic woodblock prints.

Two other large collections come
from north shore Long Island residences. The family just sold their house after
living on thirty acres on the water with remarkable views of mid-town Manhattan
for over fifty years. The first consignment from this house includes 18th
century firearms.  There are numerous
blunderbusses and a rare Dutch boat-mounted signal gun. The other house is
selling decorative arts, paintings, rugs and furniture, including a Federal
mahogany curule-form side chair, attributed to Duncan Phyfe.

The most unusual item in the
auction is arguably the solid silver figure of Remington’s “The Mountaineer”,
which the seller acquired in the ’90’s. It’s over 36” tall and supposedly
weighs 135 lbs with the marble base.

                                                ### more ###

A large group of Big Game
taxidermy came from a New Jersey sportsman, and an unrelated consignor is
selling an Elk antler rocking chair.

If there were ever an auction
offering the proverbial “something for everyone”, this is it.

In early 2010, Nye and Company relocated to
Bloomfield, New Jersey making them more easily accessible to New York City. Our
location, on the banks of what was
formerly the historic Morris canal, is moments off major interstate arties (Garden State Parkway, New
Jersey Turnpike, Routes 80, 280, 287) and State Routes 3, 46 and 23.
