Overuse and Misuse of Antibiotics Seminar

The Montclair Health Department will hold a seminar on antibiotic overuse and misuse on Tuesday, October 29, 12:00 Noon, in the Municipal Building Council Chambers, 205 Claremont Avenue, Montclair. Mona Philips, Pharmacy Director of the Clara Maas Medical Center, will provide information about the appropriate use of antibiotics, antibiotic resistance, and when these medications are not needed.

Each year in the United States at least two million people become infected with bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics and at least 23,000 people die every year as a direct result of these infections. Many more people die from other conditions that were complicated by an antibiotic-resistant infection. This information comes from the CDC's 2013 landmark report "Antibiotic Resistance Threats in the United States."

The seminar is free and open to the public. Please call Erica at 973-509-4969 to reserve your seat.
