Essex County Death Cafe

Where: First Floor,The Celebrant Foundation & Institute, 93 Valley Rd., Montclair

Our evening’s topic: Does death truly help us appreciate life?

Death Café is an opportunity to gather informally to safely share your thoughts, concerns, experiences, insights and questions about death. Plus we’ll have tea and snacks as we engage in facilitated discussion about the great inevitable Truth.

This is an open and respectful environment, free of any doctrine or desire to lead anyone to any particular conclusion, course of action, merchandise, or anything like that - simply a community coming together to speak safely and confidentially. All are welcome!

Our special guest: Award winning journalist Erika Hayasaki, author of the new book “The Death Class: A True Story About Life”. Hayasaki spent four years following Norma Bowe, a nurse who taught a highly popular class ob death at Kean University in NJ. Her book offers a completely engaging look at death and the meaning of life, bringing to light the courage to turn and face one’s own life and death, and to make a difference in the lives of others. Come and meet the author and talk about deaths we’ve all experienced and how that has influenced each of us.
