Trans-Feminisms: New Frontiers, New Challenges, New Solidarities

This event addresses the different
aspects of womanhood and feminism in different contexts (such as women of
color, trans women, lesbian women, etc.) with a transnational focus on domestic
and global politics.

We have three speakers: Selly Thiam, the founder and
executive producer of None on Record: Stories of Queer Africa, Dr. Abena Busia,
Director of Women’s & Gender Studies at Rutgers University and co-director
of the groundbreaking Women Writing Africa Project, and Barbra Siperstein, the
first transgender member of the Democratic National Committee, and the director
of the Gender Rights Advocacy Association of New Jersey.
