Watchung Booksellers Author Event - Susan Gregg Gilmore, "The Funeral Dress"

Join us at Watchung Booksellers for a reading and talk with Susan Gregg Gilmore, author of "The Funeral Dress"!

Emmalee Bullard and her new baby are on their own until Leona, the older seamstress who sat by her side at the local shirt factory, insists Emmalee come and live with her. Tragically, Leona dies soon after. Grief-stricken, and against the objections of all those around her, Emmalee decides she’ll make Leona’s burying dress.

A moving tale emerges as, with every stitch, Emmalee struggles for her daughter and to honor Leona the best way she can, finding unlikely support among a group of extraordinary women and, ultimately, her community.

Susan Gregg Gilmore is the author of the novels "Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen" and "The Improper Life of Bezellia Grove", and has written for the Los Angeles Times and the Christian Science Monitor. She lives in Tennessee with her husband and three daughters.
