West Essex Art Assoc. Meeting Features New Jersey Artist, Marcia Miele Branca

The West Essex Art Association is pleased to announce our monthly meeting featuring a presentation by West Caldwell artist, Marcia Miele Branca.  Marcia will be discussing the process of painting in encaustic.

Join us on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 7:30-9:30PM at Crane's Mill Town Square, 459 Passaic Ave., West Caldwell, NJ in the Activity Room (Lower Level).

Marcia Miele Branca is a practicing artist proficient in printmaking, drawing and painting. Her work has been shown throughout the NY/NJ metropolitan area.

Ms. Miele Branca earned a B.A. degree in Art Education from Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio in 1972, and an M.A. in Printmaking from Montclair State University in 1990.  She has done postgraduate work at the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC, Bennington College, Vermont, and Kean University.  She completed her M.F.A. at New Jersey City University in December 2002. Her work has been reviewed by Eileen Watkins, former art critic for the Star Ledger, Dan Bischoff, current art critic for Star Ledger and Barry Schwabsky of The New York Times.

She received scholarships from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the Alliance for Arts Education, the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, and Sugar Maples Center for the Arts.

Ms. Miele Branca received 1st Place in the 1999 Hunterdon Museum Members Show. In 2005, she was awarded first place in the Monmouth County Arts Council Annual Juried Show at the Monmouth Museum.

She is an active member of the West Essex Art Association and Studio Montclair. After teaching in the Belleville School System for 36 years, she is currently an art instructor at Essex County College, West Essex Branch. She works and teaches privately at her studio in West Caldwell.
