WPW NJ: A Universal Alliance

Women are painting women - Regionally, Nationally and Internationally!

On September 26th, Gallery U Boutique in Westfield will celebrate their grand opening by presenting the figurative work of twelve acclaimed New Jersey artists as part of the Women Painting Women (R)evolution.  Women Painting Women (WPW) began in 2008 as a blog exploring how contemporary women painters portray women as subjects, and has grown to include concurrent gallery exhibitions in Virginia, Tennessee, Texas, New York, South Carolina, Scotland (UK) and now New Jersey.

Inspired by the original Women Painting Women experience, New Jersey artists Colleen Gallo, Louise B Hafesh, Victoria Herrera and Jamie Lindholm formed WPW-NJ with the goal of building community and visibility for women artists and to shine a spotlight on some of the Garden States’ own extraordinary figurative talent.  Local artist, Stephanie Deshpande, joins eleven others in this unique figurative exhibition.  Artists include:

Carole Dakake
Nancy Depew
Ellen Eagle
Colleen Gallo
Louise B. Hafesh
Annette Hanna
Victoria Herrera
Natalie Italiano
Jamie Lindholm
Nanci France-Vaz
Lea Colie Wight
