The Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates will host the third annual S.O.F.I.A. Walk Against Domestic Violence on Saturday, Sept. 7 in Canterbury Park in Montclair.
With the theme “With Awareness There Is Hope” the walk is a fundraiser for the Montclair-based non-profit organization which provides advocacy, support services and referrals for temporary housing to “at risk” women and children of domestic violence.
The mission of S.O.F.I.A. is to help the domestic violence victims the organization serves become survivors who are “self-sufficient, positive and successful.”
Funds raised will help secure funding to expedite the opening of
the S.O.F.I.A. Success Center and a SAFE House.
Entrance fee for the walk is $10 for individuals and $35 for team captains (which includes a S.O.F.I.A. t-shirt).
Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk will begin at 10 a.m.
