Local Moms Group Organizes Diaper Drive

Collection will be held at Kidville Montclair on Oct. 22.

A local business and a moms group are holding a diaper drive to help area parents struggling to buy diapers for their babies.

Kidville Montclair, 516 Valley Road, will host an afternoon of free open gym play on Tuesday, Oct. 22.  and will be the site of a diaper and wipes collection organized by Attached Moms of Montclair.

Donations will be brought to the Human Needs Food Pantry in Montclair, which serves hundreds of local families.

“No parent should ever have to re-use a dirty diaper or miss work because they’ve run out and can’t afford more. And no baby should have to spend a day in a soiled diaper,” said Dara Goldberg-Spar, a West Orange mother of two and a member of Attached Moms of Montclair.

Attendees are asked to bring an unopened package of diapers. Those who cannot stay to play may drop-off diapers during the event. Diapers in sizes 3, 4, and 5 are needed most.

Attached Moms, a group for families who practice Attachment Parenting, was founded by Rebecca Budd Meyers in 2009 in Boston. It has grown to nearly 400 members in Massachusetts and New Jersey who share a commitment to supporting breastfeeding, gentle nighttime parenting, and positive discipline.
