'Parents Who Rock' Concert Benefits Sandra Coke Fund

Backyard Family Event to be held Saturday in Montclair.

The Montclair community continues its support for the Sandra Coke Fund this weekend.

Parents Who Rock will hold a free Backyard Family Event at 72 High St. in Montclair, on Saturday, Sept. 7, from noon to 6 p.m.

Donations will be accepted to help provide care and education for the teenage daughter of Sandra Coke, a federal criminal defense investigator in California, and sister of Montclair Board of Education member Tanya Coke, who was found dead last month after being missing for several days.

Coke, 50, spent decades working as an advocate for death-row prison inmates, according to The San Jose Mercury News.

The Sandra Coke Fund, established by her friends and family, has raised more than $102,000 and counting on Crowdrise.com.

Saturday's event includes a concert, kids yoga with Jacquie Ruderman, face painting sponsored by Aunt Jeans Toys and Treats, kids’ jewelry demonstrations and more. Bring your own blankets and chairs. Rain date is Sunday, Sept. 8.

Parents Who Rock is a Montclair-based non-profit made up of musicians and other volunteers who hold concerts to raise money for various needs in the community.
