The second season of Free First Thursday Nights at the Montclair Art Museum is under way with free admission, special programming, live music and a full-service bar.
The community is invited to spend a free night out at the Museum from 5 to 9 p.m. on first Thursdays from October to June.
Get a tour of an exhibition every hour on the half hour (5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.), try a signature cocktail from Egan & Sons in Montclair and hear live music by students from the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University. There will also be drop-in workshops offered by the Yard School of Art.
Special programming this month includes a trunk show with local jewelry artist Gayle Mahoney in The Store at MAM; the return of the Ask the Archivist booth, where visitors can discuss MAM’s history with longtime docent and MAM Archivist Judy Hinds; an artist talk curated by Gallery Aferro in Newark titled This is Us, Process and Practice; and a photography workshop by Montclair’s own Phil Cantor Photography teaching visitors, using their own smart phones, how to stand and smile for photographs to bring out their best.
Come hungry. Devilish & Divine Pastry and Dessert Caterers will be offering cookie samples and Hunger Construction, the popular stuffed potato food truck, will be on site.
