Local Costumed Canines Named Winners of 'Strut Your Mutt'

Essex County hosted two annual parades and canine costume contests on Saturday in county dog parks. 

A morning event was held at Brookdale Dog Park in Brookdale Park in Bloomfield/Montclair followed by an afternoon event at South Mountain Dog Park in South Mountain Reservation in Maplewood/Millburn. 

The following local dogs were declared "best in show."

• Joey and Jean Romanger from Montclair and their pet Jimmy dressed as Marie Antoinette and characters from the French Revolution won the County Executive’s Choice Award.
• Gina Wienman from Verona and her pet Walter dressed as Oscar the Grouch won first place in the Most Creative Costume Category.
• Annabel Richards from Montclair and her pet Harry, who were dressed as a fisherman and a lobster, won third place in the Best Owner-Pet Costume Category.
