Montclair Cancels Trunk-or-Treat

Little interest or just too darn busy?

Montclair's plans to hold a trunk-or-treat have been thwarted due to a lack of participation, township officials said Monday.

The town planned to hold a Halloween tailgate party in the high school parking lot on Thursday. Residents were asked to decorate their trunks and delve out candy to children in the community in what is considered a safe alternative to trick-or-treating door-to-door.

By Monday, the deadline to register your car, only nine families had signed up.

So, here's the question. Was there little interest or are families just too busy this time of year going to Halloween parties and parades, sewing costumes, etc.?
