LatkePalooza at the Hanukkah Spot

Local synagogues invite community to Menorah Lighting, Battle of the Bands, Children's Show and more in Montclair.

By now we've all heard about The Montclair Pop-Up, which has opened on Walnut Street in time for holiday shopping.

The Hanukkah Pop-Up, a Pop-Up Miracle, will spring up in the the atrium of the Hinck Building in Montclair next week.

The spot just outside the Bow Tie Clairidge Theater will be used for nightly Menorah lightings and special events organized by local synagogues, including Bnai Keshet Reconstructionist Synagogue, Shomrei Emunah and the J Connection of Montclair, Temple Ner Tamid of Bloomfield, Congregation Beth Ahm of Verona and Temple Sholom of Cedar Grove.

Six nights of events are planned as follows:

Nov. 27, Menorah Lighting Ceremony Songs, 5:30 p.m.
Bring your own Menorah and candles. 

Nov. 30: Havdallah and Canned Food Menorah, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Bring canned food donations for the Human Needs Food Pantry in Montclair. 

Dec. 1: LatkePalooza, 4 to 7:30 p.m.
Piping hot latkes, live klezmer, crafts and battle of the bands.

Dec. 2: Make Your Own Hanukkah Pop-Up Book, 4 to 5:30 p.m.
For all ages. Share your holiday memories with your own pop-up book.

Dec. 3: Interactive Children's Show, 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Jennifer Levine will lead "Lickity, Splickity Loves Hanukkah" followed by Menorah lighting.

Dec. 4: Live Music, Hanukkah Sing-Along, Latkes, Crafts, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Bring wrapped gift for a child or adult for MESH and IHN guests. 

The Bow Tie Clairidge Theater is located at 486 Bloomfield Ave. in Montclair.
