The 180th Oktoberfest kicks off in Munich later this month.
Save yourself the airfare and plan instead to attend the inaugural Oktoberfest at Pig & Prince Restaurant & Gastrolounge, on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 6 to 11 p.m., featuring seven craft brews from the Metropolitan area, a selection of dry and sweet Riesling wines, and an authentic German menu.
On tap will be Brooklyn Brewery, High Point Brewing Co., makers of Ramstein, Flying Dog Brewery, Flying Fish Brewing Company, Brewery Ommegang, Captain Lawrence Brewing Company and New Jersey Beer Company.

The German feast will include a full pig roast, bratwurst, spaetzle, schnitzels, fresh baked pretzels with assorted mustards, traditional sweets, like German chocolate cupcakes, and more.
“We are excited to bring the traditions of Oktoberfest to Montclair,” said Michael Carrino, chef and partner, Pig & Prince Restaurant & Gastrolounge. “Of the more than 40 craft beers that we carry in-house, 90 percent of our biggest sellers are from local breweries. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate Oktoberfest than by hosting an event of this caliber featuring traditional German foods with some of the best craft beers around."

Carino said he hopes this will be the first of many Oktoberfest celebrations to come.
"Our goal is to be recognized as Montclair’s craft beer hub, and to host a marquee event that we can build on for years to come," he said.
Tickets are $60 per person and could be purchased directly at Pig & Prince, 1 Lackawanna Plaza, Montclair, or by calling 973-233-1006, emailing info@pigandprince.com or on Facebook.
