Ana Lucia Haynes, 4, of Montclair, Dies

Montclair Community Pre-K plans to build memorial garden for 'Lulu.'

Ana Lucia Haynes, 4, died on Jan. 18 at New York Presbyterian Children’s Hospital in New York City. 

Lulu, as she was known was born in Glen Ridge and lived in Montclair, according to her obituary.

She is survived by her mother and father, Maura and Lukas, and brother Jimmy; grandparents Ana and Gregory Freiwald, Harriet and Charles Haynes; aunts Mariana Burke and Kristen Haynes; uncles Michael Burke and Zachary Haynes; and loving cousins Sophia, Thomas, and Lauren Burke.

Lulu, a student at the Montclair Community Pre-K and St. James Pre School, was the subject of a touching piece in The Montclair Times earlier this week

The Pre-K intends to build a memorial garden in Lulu's honor, the school's executive director told The Times.

She practiced piano and loved art, especially sharing with family and friends, according to her obituary. 

“Lulu brought joy to everyone she met and her death touched hundreds of lives across Montclair and as far as Australia.” 

She was laid to rest at St. Cassian Church in Upper Montclair on Jan. 20. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MCPK Scholarship Fund, 49 Orange Rd., Montclair, NJ 07042.
