Yankee Greats Pay Respects to Carmen Berra

The wife of Yogi Berra died last week.

Carmen Berra, the wife of Yankee great Yogi Berra, was laid to rest Tuesday at a ceremony in Montclair.

Carmen, 85, died last week due to complications of a stroke.

Yogi and his family were joined at The Church of the Immaculate Conception by Joe Torre and his wife, Ron GuidryBrian Cashman, Lonn Trost and Randy Levine, according to The Daily News.

Yankee President Randy Levine told the Daily News that Carmen was an angel. 

“The sun was always shining on Carmen,” he said.

Carmen, who was married to Yogi for 65 years, was remembered as “a woman of great humor, and unstinting generosity.” 

Carmen Berra was active at the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center at Montclair State University and had been living at Crane's Mill Assisted Living Facility in West Caldwell at the time of her death.

She was buried at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
