Burglar Busts Into Basement for Copper Piping

Montclair Police say burglary took place while victim was not home.

A burglar broke into an Orange Road basement in Montclair and removed copper piping from the furnace, Montclair Lt. Det. Angel Roman said.

The homeowner reported the burglary on Tuesday, Oct., 8 at 6:46 p.m., telling police the basement and been broken into some time between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. while he was not at home.

The victim said insulation was torn off the copper piping and scattered on the floor. Approximately one to two yards of the valuable piping was reported stolen. The burglar did not enter the rest of the home, the homeowner said.
