Cops: MSU Student Charged after Bogus 'Islamic Terrorist' Report

Montclair State police issued an alert to students and staff, but later determined that Navjoat Aulakh's story was fabricated.

An 18-year-old Montclair State University student was charged with filing a false report after he alleged that three white men beat him and called him an “Islamic terrorist” Thursday night.

School police issued a campus alert to students and faculty after Navjoat Aulakh notified cops Thursday that he was assaulted outside a residence hall, according to a report on northjersey.com.

Police from the Essex County university investigated the Carteret teen's story, however, and determined that the 18 year old fabricated his report to officers.

“Sadly this individual chose to put our community in fear and this type of action will not be tolerated,” Montclair State Police Chief Paul Cell told northjersey.com on Monday.

The teen was also charged with creating a false public alarm.
