Drug Arrest Yields 60 Bags of Crack

Montclair Police arrest township man after allegedly witnessing drug deal.

The following arrest information was provided by the Montclair Police. All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

A Montclair man was found with more than 60 plastic baggies of crack/cocaine after he was witnessed by detectives making a drug deal on Maple Avenue, Montclair Lt. Det. Angel Roman said.

Larne Purnell, 32, was arrested on Nov. 1 at 8:20 p.m. and faces numerous charges, including possession of crack/cocaine, possession of morphine pills and possession with intent to distribute.

Detectives followed Purnell after they allegedly witnessed him conduct a drug deal from a black Honda, Roman said. When they tried to pull him over near the corner of Monroe Street, he got out of the car quickly, but police were able to detain him. 

In addition to 63 bags of crack/cocaine, police said they found Purnell in possession of 10 morphine pills, as well as several box cutters and knives.
