Man Killed by Train ID'ed as Montclair Resident

More than 400 passengers and crew members were aboard Montclair-Boonton train.

A man fatally struck by a train in Montclair Monday morning has been identified as a township resident.

David N. Levy, 43, was killed by the 6:45 a.m. Hoboken-bound train near Laurel Place, said Courtney Caroll, a spokesperson for NJ Transit.

The incident, which suspended service for more than two hours during the morning commute, remains under investigation, Caroll said.

The train was carrying 400 passengers and crew members, none of whom were injured.

This is the second train fatality in Montclair this year. A local teenager was killed in June when he stepped onto the tracks near Watchung Plaza in what was ruled as a suicide.
