Man Tried to Lure 12-Year-Old, Cops Say

Montclair police are looking for a black male in his 30s or 40s in a white sedan who tried to persuade a young boy into his car.

Cops are looking for an unknown male who tried to lure a 12-year-old boy on Midland Avenue last Friday.

The young boy was walking south on Midland Avenue near Watchung Avenue around 5:30 p.m. when a black male in his late 30s or early 40s with a mustache in a white sedan pulled up, according to Montclair police.

“Boy, get in the car,” the man reportedly said, according to police.

The young man ignored the driver and continued walking and the vehicle drove away without incident, cops said. 

The boy’s mother reported the incident to police soon thereafter.
