Montclair Man Accused of Mission Street Shooting

21-year-old faces aggravated assault and weapons charges stemming from June 1 incident.

UPDATE: Second Montclair Man Charged in Mission Street Shooting

A Montclair man has been arrested in connection with a shooting earlier this month on Mission Street, police said Wednesday.

Rasheed Riley, 21, was charged Tuesday with two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a firearm.

Riley is accused of the June 1 shooting on Mission Street where a 25-year-old man was shot in the leg. The man was treated at Mountainside Hospital and later released.

Riley's brother, Jaylen, was shot three times the night before at the Union Garden Apartments on Greenwood Avenue. Devon Marshall, 20, whose last known address is in Montclair, is wanted in connection with that shooting, police said.

Det. Lt. Angel L. Roman Jr. said he would not "go out on a limb" and assume the Mission Street shooting was in response to the incident the night before, according to NorthJersey.com.
