Montclair Man Indicted in Murder of Villanova Student

Ernest Williams, of Montclair, was is charged with the murder of Brian Schiavetti on July 22. James Pitts, of Montclair, was also indicted on conspiracy charges.

A Montclair man accused of shooting to death a Villanova University student in town last year was indicted by an Essex County grand jury on Friday, according to NJ.com. 

Ernest Williams, 21, is accused of killing Brian Schiavetti of Ridgefield, Conn., who was found shot multiple times in an apartment building on William Street just off Valley Road on July 22.

James Pitts, 22, of Montclair, was also indicted, the report said. He is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to violate narcotics laws.

The murder happened during a drug-related robbery. 

Williams and Pitts will be arraigned April 2 in Newark Superior Court, according to the report. He is being held at the Essex County jail in lieu of $750,000 bail.
