Man Wanted in Greenwood Avenue Shooting Arrested

Devon Marshall was found on South Street in Newark after being on the run since May 31 shooting in Montclair, police said.

Montclair Township Police, working with U.S. Marshals, arrested a township man wanted in connection with a May shooting on Greenwood Avenue.

Devon Marshall, 20, is being held on $100,000 bail with no 10 percent option for allegedly shooting Jaylen Riley three times, including once in the chest,on May 31. Riley was rushed to University Hospital in Newark for treatment and was released in June, police said. Marshall had been on the run since the incident, police said.

According to a department statement, law enforcement received information that Marshall possibly was staying in an apartment on the third floor of a building in the 800 block of South Street in Newark. Shortly after 5:30 a.m. Thursday, U.S. Marshals and Montclair detectives went to the address and arrested Marshall without incident.  

Marshall faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
