Montclair Resident Gets 3 Years Probation for Stealing $2K from Disabled Woman

The victim shared her feelings in a letter read at the sentencing: 'I thought Tammie Summers was my friend, but she wasn't.'

In a Somerset County courtroom Friday, a Montclair woman was sentenced to three years probation for her May conviction for stealing more than $2,000 from the bank account of a developmentally disabled person from Bedminster Township, the Star Ledger reports.

Tamira Summers, 39, who worked for Pennsylvania-based Delta Community Supports as a caregiver, reportedly stole the money over time, starting in 2011, by using the victim's automated teller machine card. In addition to the probation mandate, Summers must pay back the stolen funds.

In a letter the victim wrote that was read at the sentencing by by Somerset County Assistant Prosecutor Robert Hawkes, she said: “I thought Tammie Summers was my friend, but she wasn’t. ... I can’t forgive her for what she did.”
