After putting her son down to sleep in an upstairs bedroom, police said, a woman and her husband returned downstairs and noticed a side door open and a kitchen window broken and unlocked. Jewelry and a pillow were reported stolen from an upstairs bedroom.

The victim told police they left their house on the 700 block of Valley Road at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 and returned home at about 12:45 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
