67-year-old Staten Island woman charged with DWI and aggravated assault on an officer for Friday night incident.

A New York woman was drunk when she was involved in a hit-and-run accident, drove the wrong way on a one-way street and assaulted a police officer Friday night, Montclair Police said.

Mary Lange, 67, of Staten Island, N.Y., was charged with DWI and aggravated assault on an officer.

According to police, officers responded to the area of Appleton Place and Burnside Place for a report of a possible drunken driver involved in a hit-and-run at about 10:30 p.m. Friday.

Police located the vehicle on Edgemont Road near Berkeley Place. The vehicle had driven the wrong way on the one-way Edgemont Road and was found with fresh damage on it, police said.

Lange was placed under arrest, and while she was being handcuffed, she ripped the badge off an officer's shirt, scratched and kicked him, police said.
