Police: Burglar May Have Entered While Resident Was Showering

Multiple burglaries and break-in attempts reported on traditionally festive night.

A burglar may have gotten in and out of a house while a resident was showering, Montclair Police Lt. Det. Angel Roman said.

A homeowner on the 700 block of Valley Road reported her son was home alone on New Year’s Eve between 9 and 10 p.m. when he heard the doorbell ring. She said he answered the door, but no one was there. He said he later heard their dog barking wildly while he was taking a shower.

When her son came out of the bathroom, she told police he noticed that doors on the second floor which are normally closed were open, but didn’t think anything of it.
