Second Montclair Man Charged in Mission Street Shooting

A second man has been charged in connection with the June 1 shooting on Mission Street where a man was wounded in the leg, Montclair Police said Friday.

Yasin Wilson-Sims, 18, of Montclair, faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a gun, and possession of a gun for unlawful purposes, Montclair Detective Bureau Commander Detective/Lt. Angel Roman said.

Wilson-Sims was arrested on unrelated charges by the East Orange Police Department Tuesday when an outstanding warrant in Montclair was discovered.

Montclair Police said they identified Wilson-Sims as the alleged second shooter in the course of their investigation.

Another Montclair man, Rasheed Riley, 21, was arrested last month in connection with the shooting.

The victim was found with a gunshot wound to the leg at about 11:30 p.m. June 1 when police responded to reports of gunfire heard in the neighborhood. The victim was taken to Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge and later released.

Police reported finding several shell casings in the area.

Wilson-Sims was taken to Essex County Jail by East Orange Police. His bail was set at $100,000 cash.
