Police: Drunken Man Breaks Concrete Trash Container, Throws Flower Planter

Montclair resident charged with criminal mischief for incident Monday near Valley and Elston roads.

A drunken Montclair man was arrested this week after breaking a concrete trash receptacle, damaging flower planters and throwing debris in the roadway, police said.

Justin Maldonado, 34, was charged with criminal mischief for the incident in the area of Valley and Elston roads at about 1:15 a.m. on Monday.

According to police, responding officers found a large concrete trash receptacle owned by the township that was broken in half in the roadway. Two large plastic flower planters were also found thrown on the sidewalk, police said.

Officers then arrested Maldonado, who was still in the area.
