Shoplifter Raids Kings For ... Dove Soap?

The following arrest information was submitted by the Montclair Police Department and does not indicate a conviction.

 

On the afternoon of June 29, a shoplifting incident was reported at the Kings Supermarket on Valley Road in Upper Montclair.

The caller told police that he had chased the subject into the back of the property, where eventually he was forced to drop the duffel bag he was carrying.

And what was inside? Eleven six-packs of Dove bar soap.

A description was given to police and—after a brief search—Jonathan Jenkins, 42, was located and arrested for shoplifting.

Also taken this past week, according to Montclair Police, was more than $900 in cash from Whole Foods (allegedly by an employee) and patio furniture from a home on Pine Street.

Dove soap is proving to be a popular item among shoplifters. A few weeks ago, with stealing more than a dozen packs of Dove soap from a CVS store.
