Montclair Teen Hurt in Hit-and-Run Crash

SUV fled the scene after striking a pedestrian on Mission Street early Monday morning.

A black SUV did not stop when it hit a man walking on Mission Street early Monday morning, Montclair Police Detective Bureau Commander Det./Lt. Angel Roman said.

The hit-and-run victim was found conscious and bleeding from the face when police responded to the scene at 12:46 a.m., Roman said.

The victim, described as an 18-year-old from Montclair, was taken to Mountainside Hospital where he is in stable condition, Roman said. He may need surgery on his jaw, he said.

The accident remains under investigation and new information will be posted as it becomes available.
