Woman Stabs Two in Home on Normal Avenue, Police Say

Dawn Lockwood-Briant, 44, of Pennsville, was arrested last week by Montclair Police for stabbing two people.

 

A 44-year-old woman stabbed two people last week in a home on Normal Avenue, according to Montclair Police. 

Dawn Lockwood-Briant, of Pennsville, entered a home on Normal Avenue on Jan. 2 with a man and a woman, according to reports. The man told police that while Lockwood-Briant was alone in the kitchen with the other woman, he heard screaming.

When the man entered the kitchen, he saw the woman lying on the floor and Lockwood-Briant standing over her while “swinging her arm in a stabbing motion over her,” according to police. 

The man was then slashed across the right hand by Lockwood-Briant when he tried to intervene, according to reports. After being stabbed, the male victim then ran to a neighboring home to call the police.

Montclair Police found both victims lying on Normal Avenue covered with blood, according to reports. The man was reportedly screaming, “She stabbed me.”

Both victims were taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center for treatment. 

Police found Lockwood-Briant inside the house on a sofa drinking a beer, according to reports. She was found to have a folding knife on her.  

Lockwood-Briant was placed under arrest. She was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and weapons charges.

She was being held at the Essex County Jail on $50,000 bail.
