Woman Stabs Two in Home on Normal Avenue, Police Say

Dawn Lockwood-Briant, 44, of Pennsville, was arrested last week by Montclair Police for stabbing two people.

A 44-year-old woman stabbed two people last week in a home on Normal Avenue, according to Montclair Police.

Dawn Lockwood-Briant, of Pennsville, entered a home on Normal Avenue on Jan. 2 with a man and a woman, according to reports. The man told police that while Lockwood-Briant was alone in the kitchen with the other woman, he heard screaming.

When the man entered the kitchen, he saw the woman lying on the floor and Lockwood-Briant standing over her while “swinging her arm in a stabbing motion over her,” according to police.

The man was then slashed across the right hand by Lockwood-Briant when he tried to intervene, according to reports. After being stabbed, the male victim then ran to a neighboring home to call the police.

Montclair Police found both victims lying on Normal Avenue covered with blood, according to reports. The man was reportedly screaming, “She stabbed me.”

Both victims were taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center for treatment.

Police found Lockwood-Briant inside the house on a sofa drinking a beer, according to reports. She was found to have a folding knife on her.

Lockwood-Briant was placed under arrest. She was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and weapons charges.

She was being held at the Essex County Jail on $50,000 bail.

Most people wouldn't and couldn't understand how it's possible to forgive someone that tried to kill you and came dangerously close to success.Someone that you thought you loved but I do forgive because I know that wasn't the Dawn I knew and loved.I knew she was a wounded soul just didn't know the extent of her insanity. We were going thru similar troubles with our Moms and had plans to help one another.Didn't work out that way obviously! My recovery will be slow and very painful and I'm still not out of hot water.I have over 300 staples endless stitches and my heart is very weak.I cud possibly still lose a lung but as of now I'm still breathing by the grace of God.I pray good will come out of this tragedy.Ipray for her too.I will not allow anger.Just positive prayers for all involved.

Yeah- I kept looking for the info on the two accomplices- nope- the writer was talking about residents/occupant. Wow! The author of this article fraught with grammatical deficiencies got it past the editor for publication? Amazing.

Kat, this is christy. Dawn and I have been friends for 34 yrs, don't know if she ever mentioned me, but I was given the news about what she has done to you, and it has torn my heart. My prayers go out to you and I am praying for a speedy recovery. I love dawn with all of my heart and have tried over the many years of our friendship to help her. We had spoken the day before and she was suppose to come and stay for a bit, but said she was then coming to you. She is lost and pray that she asks God to forgive her, as you have done. I would really like to know what really happened that night as I've been reading 10 different stories. Please call when you feel up to it. 302-333-2658. May the peace of God be upon you and you heal quickly. Love Christy
