This will be the first of two public meetings about the proposed well at the park. The second meeting will be on Thursday.

Montclair officials will hold the first of two public meetings tonight, Wednesday, about the Nishuane Park well project.

Starting at 7 p.m. in the municipal building, at 205 Claremont Ave., residents are invited to share their opinions and thoughts about project. Wednesday's meeting will focus on the state-monitored Green Acres designation and the township's request for a minor diversion to construct a pumping facility at the park.

The parkland is restricted by the state's Environmental Protection Green Acres Program. However, the township has submitted a final application for the small diversion of the land to the state's Green Acres Program for approval to construct a building, well, road and workspace for the township's water facility.

The township has agreed to provide funding in the amount of $130,000 for recreation improvements within the township to use the parkland.
