Accomplished Musician/Producer Kevin March Joins School of Rock Montclair

Kevin March, a renowned songwriter, drummer, and producer, has joined School of Rock Montclair as the new Creative Director.  March will be overseeing all of the creative aspects of the School’s lesson curriculum, Performance Programs, and adult programs.

"I’m extremely excited to be a part of School of Rock Montclair and to contribute to its well-deserved reputation as being the best music school in the area,” says March, who moved to Montclair in May 2012.  “Through the development of improved curriculum, an increased emphasis on music reading, new recording classes, and revamped Performance Programs, my goal will be to help students of all ages become enthusiastic, well-rounded musicians and nurture their passion for music.”

March is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music.  His vast professional experience includes stints as a member of The Dambuilders (Atlantic/Elektra Records), Shudder To Think (Epic Records), and critically heralded indie rock heroes Guided By Voices (Matador Records).  He’s performed on recording sessions for Jeff Buckley, The Breeders, James Iha (original member of Smashing Pumpkins), and A Camp (featuring Nina Persson from The Cardigans), and on songs that were featured in such films as “Velvet Goldmine”, “Boys Don’t Cry”, “The Woodsman”, and the Jack Black hit “School of Rock”.  He also co-produced the 2013 album “Warned You” by NYC-based rock quartet The NowhereNauts along with Grammy-winning recording engineer Carl Glanville (U2, Jason Mraz, Billy Joel, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson).

“We’re incredibly fortunate to have Kevin join us,” says Matt Sandoski, owner of School of Rock Montclair.  “Not only does he bring huge credentials, he also has amazing ideas on how to inject new energy, fun, and excellence into our lessons as well as our adult program and themed Performance Programs.  Our students will love working with him, and parents will be thrilled with the professionalism, energy, and talent that he shares with their kids.”

March will be featured in an Open House that will take place at the School on Sunday, January 19 from 2 to 4PM.  Prospective students (and their musically inclined moms and dads) will get a chance to jam with Kevin, sit in on clinics, and hear stories of his years on road and in the studio.
