Freeholders Honor Undefeated Mounties

Freeholder Brendan Gill, also a local resident, sponsored the commemoration of the Montclair football team's 12-0 season.

 

The undefeated season of the Montclair High School football team was recognized recently by Essex County.

The Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders honored the Mounties' 12-0 season on Dec. 19 at the Hall of Records. The team also against Bloomfield High School.

The team reached the state championship game for the third consecutive year and won the school’s fifth state title -- its first since 2002. 

The freeholder's commendation was sponsored and presented to the team by Freeholder Brendan Gill, a Montclair resident.

Attending the presentation in the on behalf of the team were: head coach John Fiore; and assistant coaches Doug Moore and Dan Roberts; assistant principal for athletics and student activities John Porcelli, and senior captains Sam Zeff, Brandon Taylor, Scott Walker and Nate Crutchfield.
