Hillside School Hosts Bike Rodeo, Learn to Bike Class
Event part of township's Safe Routes to School program.
Hillside Elementary School in Montclair hosted a Bike Rodeo and Learn to Bike class Saturday. Both bike safety events were free and open to all township children.
More than a dozen young cyclists participated in the Rodeo, and 11 took part in the beginner class.
Taught by BikeWalkMontclair instructors, the Rodeo group learned how to scan for traffic behind them, maneuver through an obstacle course, and signal their intentions to drivers and fellow riders.
Saturday’s event was part of Montclair’s Safe Routes to School program, and was organized by Hillside parent Jen Savitch.
