Montclair Teachers Honored with Judy and Josh Weston Award

Sixteen Montclair teachers were named and recognized for their continual efforts in the school system. 

The Judy and Josh Weston Award for Excellence in Teaching is given out annually to teachers in the Montclair public school system. The awards acknowledge teacher's for their creativity, high expectations, energy and concern for students.

The awards come with a cash reward of $2,000.

The administration of The Judy and Josh Weston Award for Excellence in Teaching is exclusively by parents. Nominations are solicited from students, parents and guardians of students currently attending the Montclair public schools. 

This year the committee received more than 400 nominations, of which 177 teachers being nominated. A selection committee of parent representatives from each school and Judy Weston selected the award recipients.

The recipients of this year’s Weston Award for Excellence in Teaching, followed by the subject and where they teach, are:

• Courtney Washington, Math, Glenfield Middle School 
• Syreeta Carrington, Social Studies , Glenfield Middle School
• Kimberly Dillman, Kindergarten, Bullock Elementary School
• Judy Towery, Technology, Hillside Elementary School
• Maureen McCormack, Fourth Grade, Northeast Elementary School
• Regina O’Connor, Fourth Grade, Edgemont Elementary School
• Brian Cunado, Social Studies, Mount Hebron Middle School
• Nisha Gandhi, Math, Mount Hebron Middle School
• Louis DeBello, Fifth Grade, Bradford Elementary School
• Anthony Colon, Physical Education, Renaissance Middle School
• Dione Olson, Kindergarten, Watchung Elementary School
• Jenna Fragale, Second Grade, Nishuane Elementary School
• Dana Rubin, Math, Montclair High School
• Kenneth Cleerdin, Art, Montclair High School
• Joyce Weeg, Science, Montclair High School 

The winners of the Weston Awards will be honored Monday, June 3, at the Board of Education meeting at Montclair High School's George Inness Annex.
