Montclair High's Washington Wins Region 4 Championship

Mountie wrestler Katon Washington proved that he is peaking at the right time, earning a 5-1 decision over Livingston's Jason Estevez in the 132-pound Region 4 finals at West Orange High School on Saturday. Estevez had previously defeated Washington in the Essex County Championships, but Washington bounced back with a win in the district finals a week ago and then another on Saturday.

Washington defeated Carlo Zazzara of West Essex, 5-2, in the semifinals, after cruising to a first round pin over Nutley's Ralph DiPasquale. The win propels him to the annual state championships held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City this upcoming weekend.

Joining him will be Donte Bellamy who reached the 182-pound final, but was defeated by Bryan Loughlin from Becton-Wallington, 3-1. Bellamy reached the finals with an 8-3 win over Jordan Nochimson of Nutley and a 34-second pin against Jordan Fox from St. Peter's Prep.

Moving on to Atlantic City
