The Montclair Pop-Up Opening on Walnut Street

Artists, artisans, crafters and more will offer their items from temporary space near Montclair train station.

Two local entrepreneurs hope to breathe new life into an empty retail space near the Walnut Street Train Station in Montclair this holiday season.

Selma Avdicevic (owner of Woolly Boo) and Helene Richman (owner of brandhelene) will open The Montclair Pop- Up 2013 on Friday, Nov. 22 at 102 Walnut Street.

Avdicevic and Richman have invited artists, artisans, crafters and other creative-types like themselves to an open call. The idea has been so well-received that no open time slots remain. (Walk-ins are welcome, but should be ready to wait.)

But the more the merrier. There is no limit to the number of individuals who can make their work available at the pop-up, which will be curated by the two women.

“We believe Montclair’s retail landscape will greatly benefit from this idea,” Richman said. “This will at the same time be an exciting retail space where consumers can purchase unique products, as well as collaborative space for the community.”

Landlord Mitch MacGregor stands behind the concept.

“We are very excited to enter into this venture with Helene and Selma,” MacGregor said. “We think it is going to be fantastic.”
