Montclair Defensive End Commits to Kansas

Austin Stevens makes verbal commitment with University of Kansas.

Montclair High School weak-side defensive end, Austin Stevens, has committed verbally to play football for Kansas, Jayhawks.Slant.com announced Thursday.

The 6'5", 245 lb. senior who wears No. 41 for the Mounties was an early target for the Jawhawks, the site said.

He also considered Temple and Boston College before going with Kansas, NorthJersey.com reported.

The University of Kansas has one of the oldest football programs in the country. The Jayhawks are an NCAA Division I team competing in the Big 12 Conference.

A verbal commitment is considered non-binding until National Signing Day in February.

The reigning state champion Mounties defeated the North Bergen Bruins 42-0 in the season opener last week. Montclair faces East Orange Saturday in the first home game of the season.
