Jets Name Mountie's Fiore Head Coach of the Year, Slade Commits to Nebraska

Some exciting news has broken since the undefeated 2013 Montclair Mounties won their second-straight state title Saturday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.

First, Montclair head coach John Fiore was named the New York Jets High School Coach of the Year. Fiore will receive $2,000 for his school's football program and will be presented with a certificate from the NFL team.

This is Fiore's fourth season with the Mounties. He has a 42-6 record, including back-to-back undefeated 2012 and 2013 seasons. The coach has led the team to three conference championships and two state sectional titles, as well as four state sectional appearances.

On Wednesday, Mounties senior Darius Slade, gave a verbal commitment to play for Nebraska in the fall at a press conference at the high school, NJ.com reported. 

Slade, a 6'5", 235 lb. defensive end, was also targeted by Michigan State, Kansas, West Virginia, Penn State and Rutgers, the Cornhuskers' Corn Nation reported.
