Power Surge Deflates Sports Domain Dome
Montclair resident captures photo of dome that was temporarily deflated Thursday morning.
Commuters at the Walnut Train Station may have noticed something unusual Thursday morning — the deflated dome at the Sports Domain Academy on Depot Square.
Co-owner Chris Boeckel said he arrived at the sports facility to find the white puffy dome deflated due to a power surge.
Thankfully, there’s nothing to be alarmed out.

The dome deflates four to five times a year, Boeckel explained, and it’s just something that comes with the business of operating a domed facility.
The facility was closed when the power surge occurred he estimated between 6:30 and 7:45 a.m.

Two blowers re-inflated the dome in 31 minutes.
“No one was in the facility. No one was scheduled to be in the facility,” he said. “I appreciate everyone's concern.”
The "Dome" opened in 1999 and offers year-round adult and youth soccer programs, camps and training.
