Are Sharks Keeping You Away from the Cape?
The latest report says there are at least four sharks swimming off the coast of Chatham. Has this affected your summer vacation plans?
Cape Cod officials report that great white shark sitings have been increasingly common in recent years.
Late last week, it was reported that there are at least four sharks -- the longest being approximately 16 feet long -- swimming off the coast of Chatham.
Chatham officials have warned swimmers to stay 300 feet away from seals, a favorite snack for sharks, on eastern-facing beaches, and say that sharks like to be "primarily from Chatham inlet south to the southern tip of Monomoy;" and The Cape Codder reports that seal carcasses attacked by sharks have washed up along North Beach Island.
