Dynamic Summer Events at Temple Ner Tamid

Karen Frank kicks off the Summer Speakers Series at Temple Ner Tamid

 
The community is invited to attend Temple Ner Tamid's "Summer Shabbat" during July and August, when Shabbat services are led by members of the congregation every Friday evening at 6:30pm.  

Following the service, a guest speaker will lead a discussion on an interesting variety of subjects. Saturday morning services and Torah discussion will take place at 10am.

Karen Frank, Temple Ner Tamid’s Congregational Nurse, will speak following the Kabbalat Shabbat service on Friday evening, July 6. Her discussion is titled “Why A Congregational Nurse? The Role of Healing In A Synagogue Community.” 

This presentation is a continuation of Temple Ner Tamid’s summer-long series of community members and leaders addressing the community on issues of political, social and religious significance.

Karen Frank, RN is a Congregational Nurse and the Director of Project SHIN (Spiritual Healing Integrating Nursing). Her work focuses on the integration of physical, emotional and spiritual health. She serves as the pastoral nurse for many local synagogues, including Temple Ner Tamid, making house calls, hospital visits, and holding office hours. She advises individuals and families facing the challenge of health, aging, or lifestyle changes and consults with the “sandwich generation” seeking to provide care for their elderly parents. She also teaches meditation both as a tool for reducing stress and anxiety as well as for spiritual connection.

Frank holds degrees in psychology from the University of Michigan and nursing from Oakland University. She is also a certified Spiritual Director and works with clients who are interested in strengthening their spiritual connection and awareness.

The Kabbalat Shabbat service, which will be led by Nancy Friedman Zinn and Lisa Westreich, begins at 6:30 p.m. Both the service and the presentation/discussion are open to the public. 

Join Temple Ner Tamid on Saturday, July 7 at 10am for an informal, but spirited service and Torah discussion with congregational leaders  Gary Anolik and Dan Herman this week.
